Don’t Let Your Dreams Be Dreams

Have you ever had a bad day/week/year and thought to yourself, “I wish I could just go somewhere. I would love to take the next flight out.” For most of us, that is a wish. We wish we had the finances, the vacation time, and the courage to just pick a place at random and go. What is stopping us? The long weekend isn’t long enough? The trip would cost an entire paycheque? You can travel when you are older or when you accumulate more vacation time? Those are excuses. Travelling while you are young is amazing.

You do not have strong commitments, you have your health, and you do not have any major responsibilities. Do not let finances impact your decision to travel. The company will not collapse if you take two days off. Wouldn’t you rather cut back on eating out twice a week and put that towards an adventure? An adventure that could open your mind to the world and experience the joy of travelling? Broaden your views and knowledge? I know I would.

So here I am, thinking about what I want to do, where I want to go.  I want to be immersed in a new culture and experience someone else’s way of life; even if it is for a short period of time. Life is meant to be enjoyed, not wasted away on work. You do not see a dying man wishing he had worked more in his life. So get out of your town. Take a weekend trip down to the coast or up to the mountains, catch a flight back home or catch a flight overseas, wherever it may be.  Just see the world.
